POSITION PURPOSE

The Floor Trainer conducts training across the plant for employees at all levels of the organization to provide team members with the knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the expectation for their various roles and responsibilities. The Floor Trainer’s primary responsibilities are to teach the specific technical skills and processes necessary for operators to successfully and safely perform their production duties, and to complete observation checklists to verify new hires learned the behaviors and knowledge taught during training. Floor Trainers will also conduct re-training and cross-training.  If there is no training needed or if circumstances require, Floor Trainers will have other work assigned (including, but not limited to, production).

The Floor Trainer reports to the Department Manager.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS

  • Conduct Training
    • Using the Tell/Show/Do/Teach method:
      • Conduct training for New Hires on the job skills, safety, quality, and systems required to perform their job.
      • Cross-train existing team members.
      • Re-train as needed.
    • Partner with Training Coordinator to conduct annual safety, quality, and systems re-training.
  • Complete OJT Checklists
    • Coordinate with department management to ensure accurate and timely completion of OJT Observation Checklists.
    • Complete the Level 2 and Level 3 Observation Checklists for all direct hire and contract hire team members to validate they learned the knowledge and skills taught in New Hire Training.
    • Complete Level 4 Observation Checklists for team members qualified to become certified trainers.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date training records
    • Work with Training Coordinator to ensure training sessions are created in Challenge University and attendance is recorded.
    • In a timely fashion, submit necessary documents (example: sign-in sheets, tests) to Training Coordinator to be input into Challenge University.
    • Training records include, but are not limited to, OJT Observation Checklists, Toolbox Talks, and safety or quality procedure reviews.
