Who We Want:

We are looking for a Human Resources Manager to lead all human resource functionality for our corporate team! This individual will partner with all of the HR cross functional team and support corporate salaried employees on a local level to develop and deliver HR strategies which are people-centric, drive high performance, and create continuous improvement. The ideal person will be extremely self-motivated, and solution focused and will bring a passion for helping people and developing relationships. This person will monitor the overall employee-employer relationship and work with leadership to ensure a positive relationship to keep employees motivated and highly productive- championing Challenge’s Core Values. What You'll Do:

  • Serves as a liaison to managers and employees at the corporate offices to learn of, investigate, respond to, and resolve employee relations matters
  • Serves as a resource to management on matters of employee discipline to ensure consistent application of all policies and procedures
  • Coordinates internal dispute resolution (grievance) process upon notice of an employee request
  • Supports the Talent Acquisition team’s recruitment and retention efforts
  • Ensures consistent application of company policies, including administration of attendance points policy; issuing written discipline documents; investigating alleged misconduct; and coaching leadership on disciplinary matters
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Assists with maintaining, monitoring, and updating Human Resources policies and forms, and ensures regulatory requirements are met
  • Ensures strong and positive communication between HR and all corporate employees
  • Monitors and maintains accuracy of all corporate HR data within the HRIS system
  • Develops new Human Resources processes as needed with the implementation of new regulations or organizational initiatives
  • Meets with new managers to orient them to HR processes. Conducts in-services on Human Resources topics for management as needs are identified
  • Supports the VP of Human Resources with other duties as assigned

When and Where:

This will be an 830-5PM M-F position located at our Corporate Office in Walker, MI. 
“The schedule is typically the day shift. However, employee must have ability to work the shift/number of hours in which duties need to be accomplished, including overtime, holidays, and weekends, as necessary.”

What You Need to Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
  • 5+ years of human resource management experience
  • Manufacturing or automotive background experience preferred
  • Must have knowledge of human resources principles including benefits, recruitment, state and federal employment and labor law, and employee relations
  • Track record in coaching and influencing senior leaders
  • Ability to communicate at various levels of the organization (written and verbal)
  • Organizational savvy: possesses the ability to understand the culture in which one operates, and able to effectively influence and drive change
  • Comfortable working within a matrix organization
  • Highly motivated self-starter and able to perform at multiple levels (strategic, tactical, administrative)
  • Track record in leading, motivating and developing a team
  • Able to simplify and clarify situations and processes; delivers operational value through intelligent application of processes
  • Excellent IT Skills, particularly Microsoft Office and HRIS systems
