Who We Want:

We are looking for an Environmental, Health, and Safety Coordinator / Training Coordinator to join our team! This individual will support our plant in our Cusseta, AL location.  This is a dual role, reporting directly to the EHSS Director with dotted line reporting to the Director of Learning & Development. The ideal person will have strong safety skills, supported by communication and training skills, hazard identification and mitigation, as well as being able to influence the plant and lead a safety culture. They will bring a passion for preparing Challenge Manufacturing team members to work safely and deliver quality parts to our customers.  A collaborative and solution focused mindset will be essential to success in this role. They will also have an in-depth understanding of OSHA and EPA regulation as it relates to stamping and welding operations. This person will thrive in growing EHS and Training teams and must be able to work independently with remote support.

What You'll Do:

  • Promote and facilitate a strong Safety culture within the plant
  • Ensure compliance with Challenge Mfg. EHS policies and procedures, OSHA and State-run OSHA programs, EPA, DEQ regulations, and customer EHS requirements.
  • Lead the plant Safety committee
  • Work closely with operators, leads, and plant management to ensure EHS compliance and drive EHS results
  • Implement EHS programs and initiatives
  • Identify and mitigate hazards through a collaborative and teaching effort
  • Maintain Environmental Permits and submit TIER II and other environmental reports
  • Investigate and manage incidents and near misses
  • Schedule and conduct new hire training classes and training on specialized safety training topics (examples: lockout/tagout and motorized equipment permits)
  • Manage the On-the-Job Certification process, completing Common Core Level 1 observation checklists, training plant leadership to conduct Level 2 and Level 3 checklists, and ensuring accurate and timely completion of observation checklists by plant leadership
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date training records
  • Be an active participant in the full EHS and Training teams across 12 plants to develop EHS programs and initiatives

When and Where:

This will be a 1st Shift M-F position located at our Plant in Cusseta, AL.

What You Need to Have:

  • Minimum 3-5 years EHS experience
  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Sciences, or related field strongly preferred
  • Experience in automotive or heavy manufacturing a strong plus
  • Experience conducting training is a plus
  • OSHA 30 hour, GSP, ACSP, CSP or other certifications a strong plus
  • Takes responsibility for actions, results, and mistakes
  • A self-starter and has initiative for positive risk reduction measures
  • Has strong time management and organizational skills
  • Team player that collaborates well with the plant personnel and greater EHS team
  • Thrives in a hands-on environment
  • Demonstrates transparency, honesty, and integrity in all aspects of work
  • Has strong communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Comfortable training and presenting in front of audiences
