Who We Want:
The Sr. Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing and managing server applications on Windows Server and LINUX platforms. In addition, they will manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Microsoft Exchange, PKI and Microsoft System Center functionality. Along with primary responsibilities of virtual environments and hardware SAN infrastructure. Key areas will also include problem solving and developing significant strategies around innovation for the business.
What You'll Do:
- Engineering of systems administration-related solutions for various project and operational needs.
- Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
- Install and configure systems which support infrastructure and global business activities.
- Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures, along with system standards.
- Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks.
- Install and maintain security patches on the operational and development systems.
- Perform daily system monitoring on SAN, Virtual environment and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes. Including the reporting of KPI metrics on a weekly basis.
- Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.
- Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities
- Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.
- Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization.
When and Where:
This will be a Monday through Friday position located at our Corporate Office in Walker, MI.
Occasionally, this may require you to arrive early, stay late, or work on weekends, outside of our regular hours, to ensure we successfully meet customer needs, deadlines, or urgent requests.
What You Need to Have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a computer-related or business field with a minimum of eight years IT industry experience and at least five years of system engineering experience
- Strong proficiency in hardware and software server platforms
- Experience with Microsoft System Center, VMWare, Hyper-V a plus
- Experience with Dell/EMC and HP server platforms a plus
- Ability to develop strategic hardware/software solutions to enable future business objectives
- Capable of troubleshooting common datacenter connectivity issues and hardware related failures
- Familiar with tools that can aid with profiling server resource usage and optimizing it
- Knowledge of ITIL process and procedures
- Must have excellent problem solving and analytical skills to resolve complex tactical, technical, and business related issues
- Must have superior verbal and written communication skills
- Must be a team player with excellent customer service skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a global manufacturing environment
