Who We Want:

We are looking for an Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist to join our team! This individual will support our plant in our Northlake, TX location, and report directly to the EHS Director. The ideal person will have strong safety skills, supported by communication, hazard identification and mitigation, as well as being able to influence the plant and lead a safety culture. They will bring a passion for EHS and a collaborative and solution focused mindset. They will also have an in-depth understanding of OSHA and EPA regulation as it relates to stamping and welding operations. This person will thrive in a growing EHS team and must be able to work independently with remote support.

What You'll Do:

  • Promote and facilitate a strong Safety culture within the plant
  • Ensure compliance with Challenge Mfg. EHS policies and procedures, OSHA and State-run OSHA programs, EPA, DEQ regulations, and customer EHS requirements
  • Lead the plant Safety committee
  • Work closely with operators, leads, and plant management to ensure EHS compliance and drive EHS results
  • Implement EHS programs and initiatives
  • Identify and mitigate hazards through a collaborative and teaching effort
  • Maintain Environmental Permits and submit TIER II and other environmental reports
  • Investigate and manage incidents and near misses
  • Be an active participant in the full EHS team across 12 plants to develop EHS programs and initiatives

When and Where:

This will be a 8AM-5PM M-F position located at our Plant in Northlake, TX.

What You Need to Have:

  • Minimum 5 years EHS experience
  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Sciences, or related field strongly preferred
  • Experience in automotive or heavy manufacturing a strong plus
  • OSHA 30 hour, GSP, ACSP, CSP or other certifications a strong plus
  • Takes responsibility for actions, results, and mistakes
  • A self-starter and has initiative for positive risk reduction measures
  • Team player that collaborates well with the plant personnel and greater EHS team
  • Thrives in a hands-on environment
  • Demonstrates transparency, honesty, and integrity in all aspects of work
  • Has strong communication and conflict resolution skills
