Who We Want:
The human resource generalist performs duties in some or all the following functional areas: employee/labor relations, training, onboarding, hiring, investigations, disciplines/ terminations/benefits management, and payroll. This position requires a positive, people-oriented person who can relate to individuals at all levels within the organization. The generalist must be sensitive to business needs, policies and process and employee and management relationships.
What You'll Do:
- Processes weekly team member payroll using ADP Workforce Now, including resolving timecard discrepancies, confirming timecard approvals, processing weekly payroll files, and investigating payroll discrepancies.
- Maintains all employee and applicant documentation as dictated by governing agencies and company procedures via ADP.
- Manages and tracks all employee disciplinary actions, including participating in disciplinary meetings and investigations.
- Coaches, counsels and guides managers before executing employee disciplinary actions.
- Assists with recruitment tasks as needed (reviews applications, interviews, and onboard employees).
- Acts as an employee and labor relations specialist.
- Monitors tardy and absenteeism reports and ensures proper documentation is issued to employees who have excessive tardiness or absenteeism problems. Reports vacation, sick, personal day and holiday.
- Distributes and monitors employee performance evaluations and ensures they are done in a timely manner. Updates, monitors, and maintains eligible wage adjustments/increases based on performance evaluations and / or merit adjustments.
- Reports, maintains, and monitors all workers' compensation case files; follows-up on open cases.
- Monitors employee eligibility for benefits plans. Reviews benefits with employees and processes enrollment, cancellation, or changes. Organizes and manages annual open enrollment communications and election process.
- Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs – (i.e. attendance and referral bonus)
When and Where:
This will be a first shift M-F position located at our Plant in Spartanburg, SC
Occasionally, this may require you to arrive early, stay late, or work on weekends, outside of our regular hours, to ensure we successfully meet customer needs, deadlines, or urgent requests.
What You Need to Have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field required
- 2+ years related HR experience required
- PHR Certification preferred
- Union relations experience preferred (UAW)
- Previous experience in an automotive manufacturing environment preferred
- Is at work when scheduled and ensures coverage when absent; takes timely breaks/lunches; uses time wisely
- Understands the “big picture” impact of decisions – how the key drivers of the business impact the company’s financial statements. Has ability to focus on benefits of change and see it as positive; approaches change or newness in constructive/objective manner; views change as learning opportunity
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Comfortable communicating in difficult situations in both individual and group settings
- Use an objective and balanced approached toward analysis and decision Ethical Practice
- Takes positive action to objectively resolve conflict by listening, staying focused on issue to find resolution, and monitoring progress
- Is thorough, accurate, and reliable when performing and completing job tasks; demonstrates honesty and integrity in all aspects of work
- Demonstrated expertise in key HR disciplines including the area of; Attraction & Retention, Alignment and Performance Management, Compensation & Benefits and Training & Development
- Has necessary experience, skills, and knowledge to perform all aspects of job; rotates through all job responsibilities
- Able to inspire, influence and develop other people. Uses feedback from others to continuously improve performance and work relationships. Works with sense of urgency to meet needs of customers
- Steel toe boots and hard hats are required on site
