Who We Want:
The purpose of a Weld Production Operator at Challenge is to load component parts into automated assembly cells in an efficient manner to support the production of customer parts. The Team Member will record production in Challenge’s reporting system (Plex) and provide timely notification to their supervisor or Challenge’s maintenance department for production issues with the work center. In addition to completing the part loading requirements, Weld Production Operators will be required to complete the necessary quality checks and part packing as prescribed in the work center instructions.
What You'll Do:

- Arriving at the scheduled time for start of Team Member’s shift, and returning from scheduled break times in a timely manner
- Performs all duties of a designated work center necessary to ensure production output of the work center during the Team Member’s shift
- Follow prescribed work center instructions to ensure efficient production while maintaining quality part production
- Weld operations involve frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, turning, and lifting
- May be required to load, unload, lift, move, pull, push, or position products and materials weighing up to 35 pounds, occasionally weighing more (assistance given with heavier objects by work partners), throughout assigned work center
- May select proper rack or bin to pack parts and/or store parts for next process
- Properly packs parts in correct bin or storage container consistent with established packaging instructions and labeling requirements
- Functionally use a computer, keyboard, printer and mouse
- Completes work center and operator inspection sheets to verify processes are stable and all product quality and inspection, including gage checks are being met
- Visually inspects parts from previous operation per Challenge quality standards to ensure proper form, fit, and function
- Ensures customer and Challenge quality standards are met per gage instructions, first piece inspection approval, problem containment processes, quality alerts and other quality standards called out in the Challenge Manufacturing Quality Policy and/or Plex System specific for each work center.
- Monitors material usage and floor stock to ensure accurate inventory, notifying material handler or supervisor when floor stock or inventory is low to prevent production interruptions
- Ensures and maintains safety and cleanliness of work area by performing housekeeping duties
- Cross trains on various work centers as required
- Completes appropriate paperwork and other documentation as requested by Team Member’s supervisor (hourly count boards)
- Follow escalation process for problem reporting
- Able to lift up to 35lbs.
When and Where:
This will be a 3rd shift / 7:30 PM- 6 AM M-T with some Fridays position located at our Plant in Cusseta, AL.
What You Need to Have:
- Ability to read and interpret job process sheets, or follow verbal instructions
- Ability to use a variety of gages (functional, go/no go) required
- Ability to work as a contributing member within team environment
